Our Guatemala Huehuetenango SHB EP coffee comes from one of the most revered coffee-growing regions in the world. Nestled in the highlands of western Guatemala, Huehuetenango’s unique microclimate, rich volcanic soils, and high altitudes—reaching up to 2,000 meters—create the perfect conditions for cultivating exceptional coffee. This region is famous for producing beans with bright acidity, complex fruit flavors, and a rich, full body that are celebrated among coffee connoisseurs.
This specific lot, sourced from Unitrade Coffee, combines the expertise of smallholder farmers in San Pedro Necta and Huixoc. These farmers follow traditional practices that have been passed down through generations, preserving the natural characteristics of their coffee. The coffee is processed with great care, undergoing a fully washed process and sun drying, which brings out the clarity and vibrancy in the cup.
As an SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) coffee, these beans grow at altitudes of 1,500 meters and above, maturing slowly and developing enhanced flavor complexity. The European Preparation (EP) standard ensures that only the best beans, size 15 and above, are selected, sorted, and meticulously cleaned to remove any defects or impurities, guaranteeing a flawless cup every time.
With tasting notes of brown sugar, lemon and lime, red apple, and walnut, this coffee offers a delightful balance of sweetness and brightness. The crisp acidity from the citrus and apple notes is perfectly complemented by the warmth of brown sugar and walnut, creating a truly enjoyable coffee experience. Ideal for pour-over, drip, or French press, this Huehuetenango coffee is perfect for those who appreciate a vibrant, well-rounded cup.
Unitrade Coffee, founded in 1989, is dedicated to sustainability and works closely with farmers to ensure access to international markets while maintaining environmental stewardship. Their commitment to quality and tradition is evident in every bean, making this coffee not only a delicious choice but also a responsible one.
